Williamson County Judge Steve Snell Announces Campaign, Highlighting Proven Conservative Leadership and Results for Taxpayers

GEORGETOWN, TX
– Williamson County Judge Steve Snell today announced the launch of his campaign, standing on a strong record of proven common-sense conservative leadership and dedicated service to Texas families. First appointed by the Commissioners Court in April 2025, Judge Snell is running for a full-term to continue delivering results that prioritize public safety, fiscal responsibility, and the unique quality of life that makes Williamson County great.

Since taking the oath of office, Snell has been a steadfast executive leader for the county, immediately stepping up to guide the community through the July 2025 Floods and Winter Storm Fern. Under his leadership, the county has safeguarded tax dollars through disciplined budgeting and initiated a comprehensive countywide water study to address current needs as well as plan for the future.

"I’m proud to call Williamson County home and I am deeply committed to ensuring it remains the best place in Texas to raise a family, build a career, and retire safely," said Judge Snell. "Over the past year, I’ve tackled major crises, backed our law enforcement, and protected our taxpayers. I’m running to continue applying my 28 years of executive leadership experience to the challenges of our growing county, while keeping faith, family, and fiscal responsibility first."

A staunch advocate for law enforcement and emergency responders, Judge Snell’s tenure has been marked by successfully securing pay raises for Sheriff’s Deputies and equipping them with advanced crime-fighting and rescue tools.

If elected, Judge Snell’s top priorities for his first full-term include:

  • Properly funding the Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Services.

  • Lowering county property tax rates and reducing the tax burden on homeowners by supporting sustainable growth that diversifies and expands the commercial tax base.

  • Improving safety and increasing mobility on roads while initiating smart transportation solutions that preserve quality of life.

  • Establishing a long-overdue Regional Medical Examiner’s Office to serve the growing population.

A native Texan and longtime resident of Williamson County, Snell brings 31 years of experience serving Texas families in public education and community leadership.

Before his appointment as County Judge, he served as Superintendent for Liberty Hill ISD where he led the district through a massive 126% growth period and oversaw $1 billion in capital improvements. His outstanding leadership in this executive role earned him the prestigious 2024 Region 13 Superintendent of the Year award.

Judge Snell is a proud graduate of Texas Tech University. He and his wife Amy have been married for 30 years and two have adult children, Will and Madison. They are active members of Celebration Church of Liberty Hill.

The Snell campaign also announced key appointments to its leadership team. Kate McDonald has been tapped to serve as Campaign Manager, bringing extensive strategic experience to the race. In addition, Stephen Smith will serve as Digital Director, spearheading the campaign's online outreach and digital messaging efforts across the county.
